Zu den Songs zählen spätere Lightfoot-Klassiker wie Ribbon Of Darkness, For Lovin´ Me, Home From The Forest und Early Morning Rain.

Shortlisted for the 2017 Legislative Assembly of Ontario Speaker´s Book AwardNominated for the 2018 Heritage Toronto Award - Historical Writing: BookThe definitive, full-access story of the life and songs of Canada´s legendary troubadourGordon Lightfoot’s name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness. His music defined the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and ‘70s, topped charts and sold millions. He is unquestionably Canada’s greatest songwriter, and an international star who has performed on the world’s biggest stages. While Lightfoot’s songs are well known, the man behind them is elusive. He’s never allowed his life to be chronicled in a book - until now.Biographer Nick Jennings has had unprecedented access to the notoriously reticent musician. Lightfoot takes us deep inside the artist’s world, from his idyllic childhood in Orillia, the wild ´60s, and his canoe trips into Canada’s North to his heady times atop the music world. Jennings explores the toll that success took on his personal life - including his troubled relationships, his battle with alcohol and his near-death experiences - and the extraordinary drive and tenacity that pulled him through it all.Rich in voices from fellow musicians, close friends, Lightfoot’s family and the singer’s own reminiscences, the biography tells the stories behind some of his best-known love songs, including ´´Beautiful” and ´´Song for a Winter’s Night,” as well as the infidelity and divorce that resulted in classics like ´´Sundown” and ´´If You Could Read My Mind.” Kris Kristofferson has called Lightfoot’s songs ´´some of the most beautiful and lasting music of our time.” Lightfoot is an unforgettable portrait of a treasured singer-songwriter, an artist whose work has been covered by everyone from Joni Mitchell, Barbra Streisand and Nico to Bob Dylan, Elvis Pre 1. The Adventures of Strongarm & Lightfoot: Scratc...

In the land of Asaches, there are great men and women who have changed the course of history. Their adventures are honored in song; their names are spoken with a reverence normally reserved for the gods; their heroic deeds have elevated them to the status of living legends. And then there are these guys....Derek Strongarm and Felix Lightfoot are two hard-luck adventurers for hire looking for their big break - or an excuse to retire before they get killed. Salvation appears in the form of Erika Racewind, a mysterious elven woman with a dark secret and a lucrative job offer. Desperate and destitute, Derek and Felix agree to join Erika in escorting her young charge across Asaches. Of course, nothing is ever so simple for Strongarm and Lightfoot. The boy turns out to be no one less than the fabled Reaper, he who is destined to destroy the mad lich-lord Habbatarr and save the world from total destruction. The adventurers soon find themselves fighting off fanatical cultists, hordes of mindless undead, bestial Hruks with a taste for human flesh, and unspeakable subterranean horrors - and things only stand to get worse as they travel ever deeper into Habbatarr’s blighted domain. The fate of the entire world hangs in the balance, and all that stands in the way of a global apocalypse is a mild-mannered warrior, an occasionally good-hearted thief, an ill-tempered elf, and a chosen one with a serious attitude problem. Asaches is screwed. The Adventures of Strongarm & Lightfoot, the new series from author Michael Bailey (Action Figures), is an irreverent take on the fantasy genre. Get ready for an epic tale filled with action, magic, monsters, quests, treasure, inconveniently located ancient artifacts of great power, curiously specific prophecies, and dangerously rickety rope bridges that someone really should have repaired a long time ago. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Heather S Auden. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/140641/bk_acx0_140641_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.

Polly and the One and Only World , Hörbuch, Dig...

Set in a much-diminished America called the Christian Protectorates, a poor country ravaged by coastal flooding, drought, and catastrophic social upheaval, this novel features 15-year-old Polly Lightfoot, a maiden witch of deep heritage and tender ability in the craft. When her identity is exposed, Polly is forced to flee New Florida, where she has taken refuge from a military purge of the country´s infidels, pagans, and followers of false creeds. With the help of her steadfast familiar, a raven named Balthazar, and her brave teenage companion, Leon, Polly undertakes a harrowing journey from the troubled south to the wild north to rejoin her people in Vermont and save her ancient craft from obliteration. Polly and the One and Only World presents a frighteningly vivid depiction of our stricken land in the stifling grip of fundamentalists and suffering the grim consequences of climate calamity. Yet the story´s dire vision will inspire listeners of any age to appreciate their own freedom and their capacity, today, to work for positive social and political change. 1. Language: English.
